Rain Makers (Ndi dibia Mmili) Provisions:
The practice of hiring and retaining the services of rain makers from other towns
during festive, social and/or traditional occasions in Oraifite for the purpose
of having a clear and good weather is hereby prohibited.
Ensuring a good and clear weather in Oraifite during festive, social and/or traditional
occasions in the responsibility of the indigenous rain makers in Oraifite at a fee not
exceeding #60.00 (Sixty Naira) per occasion.
Contravention of any of the provisons hereunder upon proof thereof attracts a
penalty of #500.00 (Five hundred Naira) payable by the offernder to the Oraifite
Improvement Union.
Development Lavies:
All citizens of Oraifite are subjects to Community Development levis imposed by the Community
and shall be subject in default to the special penalty hereunder.
Traditional Drummers (Ndi Nkwaa-Nkwa) Provision:
Traditional drummers performing on festive social and/or traditional occasions shall
receive in remuneration the following:
- The sum of #5.00 (Five Naire) cash
- Two gallons of palm wine (Nkwu-Enu)
- Two gallons of Raffia Palm Wine (Ngwo) and
- Two meals.
Maiden Outing of a Cultural Dance:
On a maiden outing of a cultural dance group of troupe...the host or hostess of the group
or troupe shall present the group or troupe with not more than the following items or gifts:
- One native goat (Ewu-Igbo)
- One basket of yams (Ji)
- The sum of #100.00 (One hundred Naira)
- Food and drinks
An infringement of sub-section above shall make both the group or troupe and the host or
hostess to a penalty of #500.00 (Five hundred Naira) each payable to the Oraifite Improvement
Union.
Special Penalty:
The foregoing provisions herein contained are mandatory and any offender or offenders who
violate the provisions aforesaid and refuses or refuse to pay the penalty or penalties stipulated
in respect of any of the said provisions shall be subject to the Traditional Excommunication
under the Oraifite Customary Law and all Social, Economic, Cultural, Burial, Funeral and all
other traditional activities whatsoever by and/or affecting such an offender or offenders shall be
boycotted by the entire indegenies of the Oraifite Community.
Save as hereinabove provided, all indegenes and citizens of Oraifite are subject to the
provisions of these resolutions and the penalties thereof.
